Looking off the port bow of steamboat Mark Twain, after rounding most of Tom Sawyer Island Pirate's Lair, while stopped because Columbia (which has also been commandeered by pirates) was still at dock ...
down on the grassy area below the wrecked mine train ...
a cat.
A live cat, just like the live ducks and ducklings (unlike the moose with 50 years of hard water deposits and bird droppings all over its back, and all the other animals outside of Thunder Mountain petting zoo).
I checked with a cast member. The vets who take care of the official animals also keep watch on what are probably a dozen or so cats who inhabit the park. They're most likely ferals who just wandered in from the surrounding neighborhood. They perform a service that the park needs, but can't admit needing.
