A couple of weeks back I ruminated that my mom is not adventurous enough to see Venezuela's Angel Falls. My inbox contains her response. She has been up Rio Orinoco to Ciudad Bolivar. She did have the opportunity to fly from there to see the falls. She declined given the combination of price and probability of lack of obscuring clouds. She has also been to IguaƧu Falls.

I could concede the error of my ways here, and maybe that's what I would best do, but no ...

When I was discussing this all with younger daughter I was looking at various touristy web pages about Angel Falls. The ones that caught my attention were beyond that sort of tour. I was seeing pages about taking a canoe up the rainforest starting at the nearest airstrip, camping at Isla Raton, hiking up the final stream from the falls battling the tree roots and bugs, and swimming in the pool at the base of the final cascade below the talus. I was seeing pages about helicopter flights landing at the top of the tepui, and base jumping from the top of the falls.

So Mom, what I meant was "not that adventurous".
