of spinal surgery and high fashion

During the trip to the Berkshires my aunt had taken the girls off to see and ride her horses. This week when I e-mailed my uncle to see if he got his birthday card he revealed that a horse threw my aunt, her back was broken, she had already had one major surgery and was getting a second.

Yesterday he reported that the second surgery had gone well, that she now has fashionably matching scars on front and back, and that she had already been up walking. The fashion remark was apparently inspired because Oscar de la Renta is in the adjacent hospital room. I don't know what he's in for, or how long, but my aunt is expected to go home next week.
