I see dead people
Jul. 3rd, 2007 10:10 pmI am still sifting and scanning the photos I rescued from my dad's place. In a sense it is a good thing for these to have been sequestered for 40 years. Before the internet there was no hope of connecting names with images. The net provides a bi-directional means for sharing the data.
With the help of the mormons and their genealogy blogs, and with input from my mom who witnessed some events, I now have the picture behind the pictures:
Whenever a family member died, my grandmother would gather their photos and stash them away, without labelling them. These people are not only dead now, but in many cases they were dead when the photos entered the chain of provenance that brought them to me.
