The trip home involved getting a new toothbrush for my daughter. There are some celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Cat in the Hat, and I got one with Sam I Am on it. In order to motivate bed time I noted that I wanted to make her birthday cake, and that I would not go to the store until she was in bed. She bedded, and I went shopping. White cake mix, powdered sugar, green food coloring, &c.
I dashed back home, pre-heated, greased, floured, mixed, baked, and washed up the first phase. Then I started whipping the softened butter with the vanilla and added the green. I know that in the morning I'll regret having pre-made the frosting as I try to coax it to spread, but we'll be dashing off with the Girl Scouts to raise the flag just in time to dash back to the pizza place for the birthday party.
In this case the toothbrush is the effect, not the cause, for the green color had been specified several days ago. Something in me had to prefer Sam I Am over Fox in Socks when I was choosing the toothbrush. There then is the real challenge: Green Eggs and Ham seems far more conducive to a good set of rhymes than Green Cake and Pizza.
